Build expertise with a strong technical resource partner
Elements of Success
Select appropriate technical resource partner
Partner with a technical resource partner who is interested in being a committed partner throughout the program – their expertise and project management skills with participants will be extremely helpful and a key to program success with participants. The technical resource partner should be an expert in the program resource area (e.g., for the ABBC, it was energy and water usage).
Develop a standard scope of work so energy (and water) assessments can be provided consistently regardless of the provider. Connecting program participants with service providers is key to sparking implementation projects. Continued engagement of both sides is critical and the expertise of a technical partner helps identify opportunities for further collaboration.
Develop a secure central database
Create a central database for assessment information with a focus on data security and sharing policy, disclosed within an NDA, for participants.
Providing support to participants will keep interest high and progress moving forward
- Software Support – The technical resource partner must be able and willing to provide time and talent to train participants on use of any software required to track, manage and report utility data.
- Comprehensive Data Review – The technical resource partner should provide a comprehensive review of each participant’s data to spot areas of concern or areas that need further review and communicate with participants about those areas.
- Data Dashboard – While not critical, consider building a dashboard that provides the most up-to-date aggregated data for the program’s effort. A data dashboard summarizes and communicates data and progress to your partners, sponsors and participants.
